Yang Pengnian
Mid-Qing Yixing potter who made the teapots designed and inscribed by Chen Hongshou, known as Mansheng pots and stamped Pengnian
A craft workshop centres on a potter's wheel holding a tall celadon vase, amid racks of red lacquer boxes, an embroidery frame with a floral design, shelves of celadon ware, carved wooden panels and stacked logs, while one craftsman works at a table and another stands at a glowing kiln.

Yang Pengnian, courtesy name Erquan, was a Yixing potter active from the Qianlong to the Daoguang reigns. In the Jiaqing years he worked with the painter and calligrapher Chen Hongshou, then magistrate of Liyang, who designed the shapes and composed the inscriptions while Yang threw and finished the pots, stamping them Pengnian under the handle or inside the lid. These Mansheng pots set a fashion for scholar-potter collaboration. The Palace Museum holds his Feihong Yannian teapot, inscribed by Chen Hongshou and stamped Pengnian inside the lid.
