Wife of Su Boyu
A woman poet traditionally placed in the Han, wife of Su Boyu, said to have written the Pan Zhong Shi to her far-off husband.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

The wife of Su Boyu is known only by that description, and her name and dates are unknown; tradition places her in the Han. According to the story, her husband stayed long in Shu and she wrote the Pan Zhong Shi to send to him, the verses being written round a dish. The poem is found in the Yutai Xinyong and later in anthologies such as the Gushi Yuan. Its authorship and date remain debated: the usual view is Han, while some scholars assign it to the Jin.
