Writers
Subjects of Famous Writings
Real people remembered because a famous poem or other writing is about them
22people
On an autumn lakeside, a large blank stone stele stands on a carved base with an offering table of fruit and a cup in front, beside a leaf-covered mound under a drooping willow; one person holds a lantern at the left, and an arched bridge lies in the distance.
Subjects of famous writings are real people remembered mainly through well-known works written about them, such as poems of mourning, biographies, epitaphs and memorial inscriptions, memoirs and folk songs. Some also hold a role of their own, such as stage performer or painter; this role only shows that their image lives on mainly through those works, and later additions to their story are marked as tradition. They differ from cultural personas in being real, and from writers in being the subject rather than the author.
