Qin Jia
Poet under Emperor Huan of Han from Longxi, whose three Poems for My Wife are early landmarks of five-character verse; his wife Xu Shu was also a poet.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.
Also known as Courtesy name Shihui
Qin Jia, courtesy name Shihui, was a poet from Longxi in the reign of Emperor Huan of Han; his dates are unknown. He began as a commandery clerk, travelled to Luoyang as accounts envoy and then held the post of Gentleman of the Yellow Gate. His wife Xu Shu was also a poet. Of his three Poems for My Wife, two are in the Yutai xinyong and one in the Gushi yuan; they are representative of late Eastern Han five-character verse and are also preserved in Yan Kejun's Quan shanggu sandai Qin Han Sanguo Liuchao wen.
