He Zilang, courtesy name Shiming, was from Tan in Donghai and lived under the Liang; his dates are unknown. Talented from youth and a gifted conversationalist, he won the admiration of Zhou She. With He Sicheng and He Xun he was known as one of the 'Three Hes of Donghai', and people said Zilang had the most. His Rhapsody on a Ruined Tomb, modelled on Zhuangzi's story of the horse's whip, is ornate. He rose to supernumerary cavalier attendant, served as magistrate of Guoshan, and died at twenty-four.
