Wang Zan (Western Jin)
Western Jin poet from Yiyang, courtesy name Zhengchang, a cavalier attendant-in-ordinary who died in office, whose Miscellaneous Poem is in the Gushi yuan.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

Wang Zan, courtesy name Zhengchang, was from Yiyang and a Western Jin poet whose dates are unknown. He rose to cavalier attendant-in-ordinary and died in that post. His surviving work is a Miscellaneous Poem on northern wind and withering grass, voicing a soldier's homesickness, found in Shen Deqian's Gushi yuan. The name is shared, and this entry is the Western Jin man of Yiyang, not Gongsun Yuan's Governor of Xuantu, the late Tang vice minister, or the early Song official.
