Fan Gongcheng
Southern Song miscellany writer and descendant of Fan Zhongyan whose Guoting Lu is the source of the idiom 'falling behind Sun Shan'.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

Fan Gongcheng, a great-great-grandson of the Northern Song statesman Fan Zhongyan, lived in the Southern Song and was active in the Shaoxing era of Emperor Gaozong; little is known of his career. According to the Siku quanshu catalogue, he wrote down what he had heard from his elders as the one-chapter notebook Guoting lu, which records anecdotes of Northern Song statesmen and scholars. The story of Sun Shan behind the idiom about falling behind Sun Shan appears in it.
