Also known as Given name Xuanli · Zi Rongwu
Wang Jie'an, given name Xuanli, courtesy name Rongwu, was a mid-Qing ink maker from Shexian in Anhui who sold ink under the name Hanpu Studio. He is counted with Cao Sugong, Wang Jinsheng and Hu Kaiwen among the four great Qing ink makers, and his ink was often chosen as tribute. The Palace Museum holds his Ten Flower Friends set of ten sticks, each moulded with a flower and its nickname, such as osmanthus as the immortal friend and peony as the beautiful friend, signed as copied by Wang Jie'an; the theme comes from the Ming Fangshi mopu, and the set is housed in a gilt black lacquer box.
