Lang Shiyuan
Mid-Tang poet styled Junzhou from Zhongshan, a jinshi of 756 who rose to prefect of Yingzhou, ranked with Qian Qi.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.
Also known as Junzhou
Lang Shiyuan, courtesy name Junzhou, came from Zhongshan and was a mid-Tang poet. He passed the jinshi in 756, became county commandant at Weinan in 762, and held posts from reminder to bureau director before dying as prefect of Yingzhou. He was paired with Qian Qi, so that it was said 'before there were Shen and Song, after them Qian and Lang'. The Quan Tang Shi gives 72 poems under his name, some possibly misattributed.
