MUZI · STAGE · Great Wall Capriccio
Through the Passes
Like a poet walking the mountain passes, the erhu muses on the rise and fall of ages.
Mural guide
In a bright hall with tall windows, a conductor on a podium raises his hands before an orchestra seated at music stands. Players in long gowns and qipao perform on erhu, pipa, ruan, flutes and sheng, with drums at the back.
Part of · Great Wall Capriccio
The first movement joins a stately slow section, a flowing largo and a singing andante. The erhu enters with a deep, solemn melody that carries the flavour of the guqin.
