- Empress / Consort
Lady Xi, of the Gui clan of Chen, married the Marquis of Xi and is known as Xi Gui and later as the Peach Blossom Lady. The Zuo Zhuan says that on her way to Xi she passed through Cai, where Marquis Ai of Cai received her without proper courtesy, and the Marquis of Xi had Chu attack Cai in revenge. In 680 BCE the Marquis of Cai praised her to King Wen of Chu, who destroyed Xi and took her to Chu. She bore Du'ao and King Cheng of Chu but did not speak of her own accord; asked why, she replied that as one woman serving two husbands, unable even to die, what could she say?
