Duke Zhuang of Lu, personal name Ji Tong, was the son of Duke Huan of Lu and Wen Jiang. He succeeded in 693 BCE after his father was killed in Qi. Early in his reign he backed Prince Jiu's bid for the throne of Qi and was defeated at Ganshi. When Qi invaded in 684 BCE he received Cao Gui and, following his plan, defeated the Qi army at Changshao; thereafter he alternately fought and allied with Duke Huan of Qi, keeping Lu intact under Qi hegemony. A disputed succession at his death led to the turmoil caused by Qingfu. He is the duke who questions Cao Gui in 'Cao Gui on Warfare'.
