Huangfu Song, courtesy name Yizhen, of Chaona in Anding and nephew of the general Huangfu Gui, was a leading general of the late Eastern Han. When the Yellow Turbans rose in 184 CE he campaigned in Yingchuan with Zhu Jun, burning out Bo Cai's army at Changshe, then defeated Zhang Liang at Guangzong and Zhang Bao at Xiaquyang, pacifying Ji province; he was made General of Chariots and Cavalry of the Left and Marquis of Huaili. He later fought Wang Guo in Liang province, was summoned and briefly imprisoned under Dong Zhuo, and then served as Grand Commandant. He died in 195. His biography is in the Hou Hanshu. He is not the late-Tang ci poet Huangfu Song.
