Xie Changchun was a late-Qing daoqing shadow-play performer of Huanxian in Gansu; his dates are unknown. Huanxian daoqing shadow play joins daoqing narrative singing to shadow puppetry and is popular in eastern Gansu. The national heritage listing credits the reforms of the 'daoqing shadow-play master' Xie Changchun and his generation with perfecting the form, and press reports say he improved the puppets themselves.
