Composers who created, adapted and arranged music
65people
In a palace music hall, a frame of tiered bronze chime bells hangs from dragon-carved beams, with one person standing with their back turned holding two mallets before it; a large red drum and a rack of red knotted cords stand to the left and a stone chime to the right, in evening light.
Composers are people who created, adapted and arranged music: those who wrote for instruments, set lyrics and composed for drama, those who set court ritual music, and in modern times those who wrote new-style songs and instrumental works. Their achievement appears in scores, music treatises and historical records. They differ from musicians in being defined by making music rather than performing it.
