Huan Yi, styled Shuxia, was an Eastern Jin general from Zhi County in Qiao. As Governor of Huainan and Inspector of Yu he joined Xie Xuan and others in routing the Former Qin army at the Fei River, was enfeoffed Marquis of Yongxiu and later governed Jiang Province; his posthumous name was Lie. He was famed for the flute: the Jin Shu tells how, asked by Wang Huizhi to play, he stepped from his carriage, played three pieces and left without a word exchanged. Tradition holds that the qin piece Meihua San Nong derives from his flute music.
