Gong Jing

Ming qin player from Banze, Nanchang, who edited the Zheyin Shizi Qinpu, which holds the earliest surviving qin score of Yangguan San Die.

Also known as Styled himself Jigu Sheng

Gong Jing, of Banze near Nanchang in Jiangxi, signed himself the Antiquarian of Banze and was a Ming qin player. He edited and annotated the Zheyin Shizi Qinpu, a handbook in which every piece carries sung lyrics, in the Zhejiang qin-song tradition. Its Yangguan San Die, developed from Wang Wei's poem Seeing Off Yuan the Second on a Mission to Anxi, is the earliest qin score of the piece, which later appeared in many versions. The handbook was once credited to Zhu Dianpei and is usually dated around 1491; the surviving copy is an incomplete manuscript. Later handbooks also credit him with pieces such as Xixian Cao.
