Yang Lun, styled Hepu, was a qin player of Jinling (Nanjing) active in the Wanli reign. His handbook centres on Taigu yiyin, prefaced by Li Wenfang in 1589, whose thirty-odd pieces all carry lyrics, Yangguan sandie among them; the sequel Boya xinfa adds seven pieces such as Gaoshan and Liushui, with a preface by Yu Yan dated 1609. Comparing early printings, scholars hold that the whole was originally titled Zhenchuan zhengzong qinpu, the common editions having been recut and enlarged later. It is a key source for Ming qin songs.
