Also known as Zi Jingxiang
Zhang He, styled Jingxiang, from Rui'an in Zhejiang, was a late Qing qin player and a Daoist of the Yuqing Temple in Shanghai, also known for poetry, calligraphy and painting. He studied the qin with Zhu Tongjun of the Pucheng school and, building on the theory in Zhu's Yuguzhai qinpu, set Zhu's repertoire in parallel qin tablature and gongche notation as the two-volume Qinxue rumen, first printed in 1864 and reissued twice. Its twenty pieces, readable through the gongche notation, made it the most widely used beginner's qin handbook from the late Qing on.
