Lin Sheng
Southern Song poet, courtesy name Yunyou (also Mengping), best known for Inscription at an Inn in Lin'an, a quatrain mocking the comfortable complacency of the rump court.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

Lin Sheng, courtesy name Yunyou and also Mengping, was a Southern Song poet whose dates are unknown. His quatrain Inscription at an Inn in Lin'an describes endless singing and dancing by West Lake and mocks the court's contentment with Hangzhou while the lost north is forgotten; it is widely quoted and is in the Qianjia Shi. He also wrote ci to the tunes Changxiangsi and Dongxiange, but little of his work survives.
