Yan Ren
Southern Song ci poet from Shaowu, courtesy name Cishan, styled Qiaoxi, one of the 'Three Yans of Shaowu', whose collection Qingjiang ainai ji is lost.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

Yan Ren, courtesy name Cishan and styled Qiaoxi, was from Shaowu in present-day Fujian; his dates are unknown. With Yan Yu and Yan Can he was called one of the 'Three Yans of Shaowu'. His ci chiefly concern love; Yang Shen praised his birthday and farewell pieces as unworldly, and Kuang Zhouyi admired the picture-like colour of his Zui Taoyuan. His collection Qingjiang ainai ji is lost, and Huang Sheng's Zhongxing yilai juemiao cixuan preserves thirty of his lyrics.
