King Xiang of Zhou, personal name Zheng, was King Hui's crown prince and reigned from 651 to 619 BC. In his first year he sent sacrificial meat to Duke Huan of Qi at the Kuiqiu assembly. His brother Prince Dai brought Rong raiders against the royal city in 649 BC and fled to Qi when they failed. In 636 BC, after Zheng detained royal envoys, the king used Di troops to punish Zheng and took a Di woman as queen, then put her aside; Prince Dai conspired with her, brought the Di into the capital, and the king withdrew to Fan in Zheng. In 635 BC Duke Wen of Jin escorted him home and killed Prince Dai, and the king rewarded Jin with land. After Jin defeated Chu at Chengpu in 632 BC, the king came to Jiantu to honour the victors and appointed Duke Wen leader of the lords. He died in 619 BC and was succeeded by his son Renchen, King Qing.
