Consort Wan, personal name Wan Zhen'er, was from Zhucheng in Shandong and was seventeen years older than the Chenghua Emperor, Zhu Jianshen, at whose side she had been since his boyhood. The histories describe her long favour. She bore a son in 1466, who died before his first birthday, and was made noble consort, then imperial noble consort in 1476. She died suddenly in the spring of 1487 and received the posthumous title Gongsu Duanshen Rongjing. The source is chapter 113 of the History of Ming.
