Queen Dowager Wei was the consort of King Huiwen of Zhao and mother of King Xiaocheng and Lord Chang'an. After Huiwen died in 266 BCE and the young Xiaocheng succeeded, she took charge of the government. When Qin attacked and Qi demanded Lord Chang'an as a hostage, she refused all remonstrance until Left Tutor Chu Long gently brought her round. The Zhanguo Ce also records her asking a Qi envoy about the harvest and the people before asking after his king. She died the following year.
