Also known as Zi Ziyin · Marquis Xiao Zhou
Zhou Chu, courtesy name Ziyin, came from Yangxian in Wu Commandery (modern Yixing) and was the son of the Wu general Zhou Fang. A New Account of the Tales of the World relates that as a youth he was so violent that locals counted him among the "three evils" with a tiger and a river dragon; he killed both, then sought out Lu Yun and resolved to reform. After Wu fell he served Jin as a governor and Palace Censor, known for defying the powerful. Sent against the rebel Qi Wannian in 297, he died fighting. He is the hero of Zhou Chu Eliminating the Three Evils.
