Ministers
Remonstrance officials who spoke plainly and impeached faults

At dawn in a palace courtyard, a large drum hangs in a small roofed frame beside a red pillar, with a bound bundle of scrolls on a low stand in front; a stone balustrade leads toward a large hall in the mist, and a row of tiny people stands far away.
Remonstrators are officials who advised the ruler frankly and impeached the faults of officials, such as remonstrance officers and censors. Their deeds are recorded in memorials and biographies, and they were sometimes rewarded and sometimes punished for speaking. They differ from chief ministers and ordinary officials in that remonstrance and oversight were their main duties, not carrying out administration.
