Li Pin
Late Tang poet from Shouchang in Muzhou, a jinshi of 854 who served as magistrate of Wugong, Censor and Prefect of Jianzhou; his collection is the Liyue ji.
In a study at night, a desk holds a brush pot, a porcelain vase with a plum branch, a lit red lantern, a folded fan and an unrolled blank scroll, with no one seated there, while through a round window the moon rises over a lake with a sailboat.

Li Pin, courtesy name Dexin, came from Shouchang in Muzhou (modern Jiande, Zhejiang) and died in 876; his birth year is unknown. He took the jinshi in 854, served as magistrate of Wugong from 864, repairing the Liumen weir, became Censor in 872 and from 875 was Prefect of Jianzhou, dying in post. His collection, the Liyue ji, is largely lost. The poem Crossing the Han River was long credited to Song Zhiwen, and some scholars argue it is by Li Pin.
