Xun Yu
Adviser to Cao Cao from Yingyin in Yingchuan who argued for bringing Emperor Xian to Xu and served as Director of the Masters of Writing.
Inside a tent at dusk, a low table holds a board of faint map-like lines with scattered black and white stones beside a feather fan, a lit lantern, an iron teapot and rolled bamboo slips, while one person sits with their back turned at the open flap, facing a river valley at sunset.
Also known as Zi Wenruo
Xun Yu (163–212), courtesy name Wenruo, came from Yingyin County in Yingchuan Commandery. He first served Yuan Shao and around 191 moved to Cao Cao. In 196 he argued for bringing Emperor Xian to Xu, and afterwards he served as Palace Attendant and Director of the Masters of Writing. In 212 he opposed Dong Zhao's proposal to make Cao Cao Duke of Wei, and he died soon after at Shouchun; the histories differ on the cause. In 265 he was posthumously granted the title Grand Commandant, with the posthumous title Marquis Jing.
