Aragibag was the son of the Taiding emperor Yesun Temur and was named heir apparent in 1324. When his father died at Shangdu in the seventh month of 1328, the chief councillor Dawlat Shah kept control of the summer capital but did not enthrone the boy, then eight years old, until the ninth month, with the era name Tianshun. By then El Temur had already proclaimed Wuzong's son Tugh Temur emperor in Dadu, and in the Two Capitals War that followed the Shangdu armies under Prince Ongchan pushed toward Dadu but were repeatedly beaten. In the tenth month Prince Oruk Temur and other commanders surrounded Shangdu, Dawlat Shah came out and surrendered the imperial seals, and nothing more is recorded of Aragibag. He had reigned for little over a month; the Yuan History gives him no annals of his own, and he is known by his era name as the Tianshun emperor.
