Liang Hongyu
Second wife of the Southern Song general Han Shizhong, recorded as beating the war drums at Huangtiandang in 1130
At dusk on a hilltop, a large tent stands open with a table holding a map marked with small stones inside, a saddled horse tethered outside, and fire stands burning; campfires dot the river plain below, and one tiny sentry stands on the slope.
Also known as Lady Liang · General Liang
Liang Hongyu was the second wife of the Southern Song general Han Shizhong. Song records call her only Lady Liang; the name Liang Hongyu first appears in the Ming play Shuanglie ji. She was made Lady of Anguo, then Lady of Huguo and Lady of Yangguo, and posthumously Lady of Binguo. According to the History of Song and other records, when Han Shizhong blocked the Jin army at Huangtiandang in 1130 she beat the war drums herself. Her birth is given as 1102; she died in 1135.
