Princess Ningguo
Tang princess married to Bayanchur Khan to secure alliance during An Lushan Rebellion
In a spring palace garden, a pavilion with round windows stands over a pond of goldfish; a peony-painted round fan, a zither and a lacquer box of pearl hairpins lie in the foreground, and one small figure in a long-sleeved gown stands at the far end of a covered walkway.
Also known as Uyghur Khatun
Princess Ningguo was the second daughter of Emperor Suzong of Tang. She first married Zheng Xun and then Xue Kangheng, and was widowed twice. In 758, while Tang relied on Uighur troops against the An Lushan rebellion, an edict sent her to marry the Uighur khan, titled Yingwu Weiyuan, and she became his khatun. He died in 759; she refused to be buried with him and returned to Tang that autumn. She had no children. In 785 her title was changed to Princess of Xiao.
