Emperor Gong of Sui, Yang You, was a grandson of Emperor Yang and a son of Crown Prince Yang Zhao, born in 605. After Li Yuan took Chang'an in 617 he installed him as emperor with the era name Yining. In 618, after Emperor Yang was killed at Jiangdu, he yielded the throne to Li Yuan and was made Duke of Xi; he died the next year and received the posthumous title Emperor Gong. The histories usually count him as the last Sui emperor, although Sui officials in Luoyang enthroned Yang Tong, Prince of Yue, in 618.
