Wei Huanzi, named Ju, was the son of Wei Xiangzi and head of the Wei clan among the ministers of Jin. When Zhibo demanded land he ceded a large town on the advice of his counsellor Ren Zhang, hoping to feed Zhibo's arrogance. He joined the siege of Jinyang, but the Zizhi Tongjian records that Zhibo's boast that water could destroy a state alarmed him and Han Kangzi, and they agreed with Zhao's envoy Zhang Mengtan to change sides. In 453 BCE the three houses destroyed the Zhi and divided their lands. Marquis Wen of Wei, who succeeded him, turned the house into a state.
