Yimouxun

King of Nanzhao (r. 779-808) who turned from Tibet to the Tang and offered the songs of his realm, giving rise to the court suite Nanzhao Fengsheng Yue.

Also known as King Xiaohuan · King of Nanzhao

Yimouxun, son of Fengjiayi, became king of Nanzhao in 779 and moved the capital to Yangjumie (present-day Dali, Yunnan). At first allied with Tibet, he was persuaded by his chief minister Zheng Hui to return to the Tang: in 793 he joined Wei Gao, military governor of Western Sichuan, against the Tibetans, and in 794 swore a covenant with the Tang envoy Cui Zuoshi at Mount Cang and was invested as King of Nanzhao. He also sent noble youths to Chengdu to study Han learning. The New Book of Tang records that in the Zhenyuan era he sent envoys to Wei Gao offering the songs of his realm and had the Pyu kingdom present music too; from these Wei Gao made the Nanzhao Fengsheng Yue for the Tang court. He died in 808 and was posthumously titled King Xiaohuan.
