Sun Ti
High Tang court writer from Shexian in Luzhou, who oversaw examinations that selected Yan Zhenqing and Li Hua and rose to Grand Steward of the Crown Prince.
In the courtyard of a district government hall, a line of petitioners waits before a raised bench with a long table and document boxes; a blue umbrella stands beside it, a large drum stands at the gate where a few people wait, and a lake with sailboats lies beyond.
Also known as Sun Ti, posthumously Wen
Sun Ti, from Shexian in Luzhou and of the Leian Sun clan, lived from 696 to 761. At fifteen he wrote a rhapsody on an earth-and-fire stove at Cui Riyong's command. He served as defender of Shanyin, proofreader, left reminder, and then as vice director of merit evaluations, academician and secretariat drafter, overseeing two years of examinations from which came Yan Zhenqing, Li Hua and Xiao Yingshi. Moved to Left Steward of the Crown Prince in 746, he ended as Grand Steward, was honoured posthumously as a vice grand councilor with the title Wen, and left a thirty-fascicle collection.
