Han Tai, courtesy name Anping, was a resourceful planner on whom Wang Pi and Wang Shuwen relied for decisive action. During the Yongzhen Reform of 805, Wang Shuwen tried to take the Shence (Divine Strategy) armies away from the eunuchs by naming the veteran general Fan Xichao commander of their western field forces, with Han Tai, then a director in the finance bureau, as his marshal to carry out the takeover. The eunuchs secretly told the commanders not to hand over their troops, and the plan failed. After Emperor Xianzong's accession Han was demoted to prefect of Fuzhou and then marshal of Qianzhou, becoming one of the Eight Marshals alongside Liu Zongyuan and Liu Yuxi. He later served as prefect of several prefectures.
