Zhu Wen
Former Huang Chao rebel who went over to the Tang, became the strongest warlord in the north and in 907 ended the dynasty to found the Later Liang, only to be killed by his son
Mural of the event “Founding of Later Liang”, which this person took part in.
After Huang Chao's uprising was put down, the Li-Tang court's prestige had collapsed, and Central Plains power fell into the hands of the surrendered general Zhu Wen and other military governors. Frontier governors had entirely kidnapped the center, and enthronement-and-deposition power-seizure was a settled fact.
Also known as Zhu Quanzhong · Liangtai Zu · Shen Wu Yuan Sheng Xiao Huang Di
Zhu Wen came from Dangshan in Song prefecture and joined Huang Chao's rebels with his brother. In 882 he went over to the Tang at Tongzhou, received the name Quanzhong ('wholly loyal') from Emperor Xizong and the next year became governor of Xuanwu at Bianzhou,. Made Prince of Liang in 901, he forced Emperor Zhaozong to move to Luoyang in 904, had him killed and set up the boy Emperor Ai, and the next year had Pei Shu and some thirty officials murdered at Baima and thrown into the Yellow River. In 907 he took the throne himself as founder of the Liang, with the reign title Kaiping and later Qianhua, and in 908 had the deposed emperor poisoned. His army was routed by Jin at Baixiang in 911, and in 912 he was murdered by his son Zhu Yougui. After the Later Tang destroyed the Liang in 923, it stripped him posthumously of rank and tore down his ancestral temple.
