Greater Khingan Range
The steep ecological fault where taiga forest transitions abruptly to arid Mongolian steppe — the evolutionary cradle from which northern nomadic, hunting, and fishing peoples emerged from the forest onto the grassland to begin their conquest of the Central Plains.

- Northern Wei Inscription at Gaxian Cave443 CE
In 443 CE, the Northern Wei sent Li Chang to Gaxian Cave to perform an ancestral rite and inscribe a commemorative text.
Qing2
- Kangxi-Era Post Route to Heilongjiang Established1683–1684 CE
From 1683 to 1684, the post route from Jilin Ula to Heilongjiang City was surveyed and completed under a Kangxi edict.
- Treaty of Nerchinsk
Qing and Russian envoys at Nerchinsk delimited their eastern frontier and set trade arrangements in their first formal boundary treaty.
