Mount Wudang

Cast from some twenty tonnes of gilded bronze in 1416, the Golden Hall of the Perfected Warrior crowns the 1,612-metre summit and has endured six centuries of lightning.

Commissioned by the Yongle Emperor, Zixiao Palace impresses with its double-eaved hip-and-gable main hall and is a traditional centre for Wudang internal martial arts.

Carved into a sheer cliff, this stone hall projects a three-metre dragon-head incense burner over the abyss, where pilgrims once risked their lives to burn incense.

Red walls with green tiles wind along the slope in the Nine-Bend Wall, and inside Wuyun Tower a single pillar famously supports twelve beams.

Zixiao Palace rests upon Mount Taihe; across thousand valleys and ten thousand crags auspicious mists thicken. In the silence of night when heaven is lofty and constellations draw near, a single chiming of the stone bell reverberates throughout the void.
