This canon collects objects of food and feasting: ding, li and yan for cooking, zun, hu and jue for wine, lacquer ear-cups and silver at the banquet, Song tea bowls and Ming and Qing wine sets. Bells ringing and cauldrons serving pictures the noble feast; the vessels keep the tastes and manners of each age.
Aspergillus brewing umami, cauldrons gathered around the hearth: distilling the distinct flavors and culinary philosophy of Huaxia through the passage of seasonal bounties.
In an open waterside pavilion, a long low table is laid with handled ding, tripod vessels heaped with food, ewers, tripod jue cups and bowls, with cushions before it and steam rising from a steamer on the stove behind. Cauldrons, wine vessels and cookware evoke the splendour of the feast and the manners of the table.
