This canon gathers objects that embodied rite and human relations: ding, gui and zun vessels for ancestral sacrifice, inscribed bronzes recording merit and oaths, seals that proclaimed legitimacy, and the objects of filial and funerary care. Through them, rite became an order that could be displayed, inherited and held.
With Five Constants as the cornerstone and Five Relations as the network, decoding the inherent order and warmth etched into the genetic lineage of Huaxia.
Between the pillars of a waterside hall, tiers of altars draped in dark cloth hold ritual bronzes such as a large ding with upright handles, slender gu and long-necked hu, while incense curls around a carved throne behind and a dragon-knob seal rests on a small table nearby. Bronzes and seal together evoke the solemn order of rite and trust handed down in the ancestral temple.
