Mural guide
On a balustraded stone terrace before cloud-wrapped peaks, a wooden table holds an abacus, a cord-tied bundle of counting rods and a few loose rods, beside a gridded counting board on which rod numerals are laid out in upright and crosswise groups. Rods and beads evoke the ingenuity of calculation as it passed from counting rods to the abacus.
