Huangyao Ancient Town

Built in the Wanli reign of the Ming, Dailong Bridge blends bluestone slabs, old trees and reflections into the graceful karst scenery of Huangyao.

Qing families of officials built these courtyard homes on a typical Lingnan nine-palace, eight-trigram plan, decorated with brick and wood carving.

Huangyao's Xianren Ancient Well links five connected pools, each set aside for drinking, washing vegetables or laundering clothes, a fine example of practical ecological wisdom.

During the War of Resistance against Japan, cultural figures including He Xiangning and Ouyang Yuqian sheltered at the Baozhu Temple site and organized resistance and relief work here.

During the Ming Wanli era, Dailong Bridge was begun at Huangyao Ancient Town and became part of the town's historic bridge-and-street fabric.
