Fruit and nuts

Introduction

Melons, fruits, and nuts and seeds such as chestnut and walnut.

Fruits and nuts cover melons such as watermelon and sweet melon, fruits such as peach, pear and citrus, and nuts and seeds such as chestnut, walnut and lotus seed. Melons and fruits are mostly eaten fresh, and are also cooked in dishes, made into sweets or dried, as with red dates and persimmon cakes. Nuts are often roasted and eaten, or cooked in porridge and put into pastries. Peanuts and sunflower seeds, which came later, belong to Introduced Crops, and candied and preserved fruit belongs to Candies and Preserved Fruit.
